Map of Cairns Australia
Full Australian Interactive Cairns Map
Cairns is the gateway to Far North Queensland, the northern part of the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. There are a lot of different things to do, from water based activities on the Great Barrier Reef, to seeing the unique wildlife. This is where you can get up close to the Saltwater Crocodile, the most fearsome of Far North Queensland's local residents. Cairns City is set on Trinity Inlet, and it is from the Cairns Marina on the Cairns Pier that most of the Great Barrier Reef Trips depart. Much of the best Downtown Cairns Hotel Accommodation is within walking distance of The Cairns Marina and the Cairns Pier.

The Daintree Rainforest
It takes a full day to tour north to the Daintree Rainforest, but is is a most worthwhile experience. A good Daintree Rainforest Day Trip crosses the Daintree River and enters the World Heritage area, taking you all the way to Cape Tribulation.
