Melbourne is a delightful, cultured alternative to the bustle of Sydney. Situated on Port Phillip Bay, it has beachside suburbs and a diverse and interesting Downtown area bordering the Yarra River.
Phillip Island Penguins
The Phillip Island Penguin Parade is a good hour and a half drive to the south of Melbourne, and is best accessed on the Phillip Island: Penguins, Koalas and Kangaroos Day Tour from Melbourne. This Tour is well worth taking to avoid the late night drive back to the City.
The Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road stretches over many kilometres of the coastline to the south and west of Melbourne from Torquay to Warrnambool and features the Twelve Apostles as one of its main attractions. An excellent day trip is the Great Ocean Road Small Group Eco Tour from Melbourne. This tour makes a fun day of covering long distances.
