The basic 6 hour tour to Tahune Adventures takes in stunning views of Hobart from the summit of Mount Wellington.
Should weather preclude visiting the mountain, the tour will either take the scenic coastal route to the Huon Valley or a visit to Mt. Nelson Signal Station. From Mt. Wellington you will take the old road to Huonville and Geeveston to the Tahune AirWalk.
The 8-hour option, is the basic 6 hour tour, plus the addition of a visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.
After pickup from Hobart, travel along the western shore of the River Derwent where you will view the historic buildings of Salamanca Place and Battery Point. Your guide will share information about the reclamation of Salamanca Wharf from the River Derwent, the history of the defences of the area, the history of Hobart, and how convicts were used for the construction of the city. Continue to the summit of Mt Wellington, where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of greater Hobart and the Tasman Bridge, weather permitting.
Should weather preclude visiting the mountain, the alternative route will be the old road south through Taroona and a visit to the historic Shot Tower. Continue to Kingston for a brief stop at the Antarctic Division Headquarters (business hours only), where one can gain an insight into activities and living conditions of the scientific teams in the Antarctic. From there, travel down to Margate to visit the Channel Heritage Centre and learn about the life and times during the past 200 hundred years in Tasmania.
The tour continues on to Hounville, with a quick stop at the Apple Shed Museum (optional – time permitting) and then on to Franklin, where you can visit the Wooden Boat Centre (optional – time permitting). From there we take the road south to Geeveston and the Tahune AirWalk.
