Mount Remarkable, at 960 metres (3,150 ft)

Mount Remarkable is a mountain in South Australia that is located approximately 160 miles north of the capital city, Adelaide. The mountain has a height of 3,153 feet. Since 1972, it has been located within the boundaries of the protected area called the Mount Remarkable National Park. The mountain‘s summit can be reached via a walking trial known as the Mount Remarkable Summit hike which starts in the town of Melrose and is a moderate hike of 14 miles which takes five hours round trip. It is reported that this mountain was discovered by Colonial Europeans in 1839 and named by Edward John Eyre in 1840. Eyre is quoted as sayingfrom the lofty way it towered above the surrounding hills I named it Mount Remarkable.”
