Destination Highlights

Sydney has a feel to it like no other city – light reflected on water, buildings and bushland fringing the bright blue of the harbour, ferries zipping around, seagulls squealing, excitement in the air. Local Sydney-siders from all walks of life and visitors from all over the World rub shoulders in a good natured lifestyle. Life is good at Travel Destination Sydney. Sydney is a great city in which to spend time wandering, whiel discovering the historic nooks and crannies that make it so interesting. The Rocks Historic Precinct has been well preserved, Circular Quay is a focal point for Sydney Ferries, and the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge dominate its centre.

Uluru is one of the World’s Greatest Wonders

Nothing has quite prepared you for the contrast between the red sand stretching to the horizon in every direction and the monolith of red rock jutting upwards like the toe of a sleeping giant sticking up through the desert.

Uluru (Ayers Rock) is a mystical place, one to be savoured as the sun rises and the rock changes colour to meet the new day, or at sunset as the last rays beam across the flat of the desert and highlight the crevices and fissures of Uluru as it settles in for the night. It is almost as if this Australian icon has a personality of its own.

The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest feature made up of living organisms.  Stretching 2,600 kilometres (1,600 miles) down the north east coast of Queensland, Australia, the Great Barrier Reef can be seen clearly from outer space.

Consisting of more than 900 islands and 2,900 individual reefs, it cannot be experienced by strapping on a mask, snorkel and fins and taking a casual swim from the beach.  A great deal of thought has to be given to the style of Great Barrier Reef trip you wish to take.

Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are a part of the Great Australia Dividing Range. This runs up the east coast of Australia from Melbourne in the south to past Cairns in the far north. They are about 1 and 1/2 hours drive from Sydney City and the 3 Sisters look out and sky rail should be at the top of your bucket list. From here you have stuuning expansive views, can smell the Australian bush and see wildlife in their natural environment, and explore the many walking and hiking trails.

The island of Tasmania is an undiscovered movie set. Explore the highlands and feel like you’ve gone back a hundred thousand years, cruise the diverse, rich and plentiful countryside and quaint small villages. If an urban jungle is more your style, hang out with a collectic mix of talented and friendly locals. It is surrounded by and covered in crystal clear water and wrapped in the world’s purest air. There’s no other place on earth where you will find it all. Drive door to door, taste it from the producer or settle down in a restaurant that will simply dial your taste buds to eleven.

Kangaroo Island

Kangaroos in the fields, Koalas in the trees, Sea Lions on the beaches, and Emu in the forests. Kangaroo Island has wildlife in the wild and it’s much larger than you might think from looking at the map. It is Australia’s third largest island, coming after Tasmania and Melville Island. Staying at one of the excellent hotels, lodges or accommodations can really show you some different aspects of Australia.

Adelaide is one of those cities that is just the perfect size: large enough to have character, culture and services, yet still small and regional enough to offer the experience of running into real locals. A well planned and set out city, it is easy to get around on foot. Catch a tram (streetcar) to the seaside suburb of Glenelg. Enjoy lunch looking out over the Gulf St Vincent, and walk on one of the excellent city beaches of the area. Architecturally, Adelaide is a gem: many of the houses lining its streets have a very distinctive sandstone, brick and bluestone combination of building materials that show off a distinct Adelaide character.
