Nestled between the rolling Mount Lofty Ranges and Gulf St Vincent beaches, McLaren Vale offers a smorgasbord of fine wine, food, art and nature. McLaren Vale boasts more than 80 cellar doors and vineyards, and although best known for its shiraz, also excels in the production of ultra-premium grenache and cabernet varieties, frequently winning awards at international wine shows.
Over 70 different wineries are in the region including world acclaimed Wirra Wirra and d’Arenberg wineries. Other 5 star boutique wineries include such as Oliver’s Taranga, Primo Estate and Kay Brothers.
Winemaking is a perplexing process, so says Chester Osborn, the creatorof the incredible d’Arenburg Cube. He said that such intricacies were theinspiration behind the architecture and unique design of the cellar door’scube-shaped building. Inside the incredible structure, visitors can not only becaptivated by impressive views over McLaren Vale, but embark on some fine wineand dining experiences. The wine tastings are incorporated into themed flightsthat reflect the region’s winemaking practices.
