Day 1: Into the Wilderness
Morning:
Your adventure commences with a scenic drive to the trailhead, to start a 3 kilometre walk to Lake Mckenzie (Lake Boorangoora) where towering eucalyptus trees and a chorus of bird songs welcome you. After a brief orientation, you’ll set off on foot, your senses awakened by the crisp, clean air and the earthy scent of the forest. The walk will lead you into Lake McKenzies secret beach where you can swim and enjoy the tranquillity of the lake to yourselves.
Your knowledgeable guide will meet you at the Lake and provide some morning tea (cake, tea and coffee) in the picnic area before directing you to the next walking trail. This will take you via the serenity of Basin Lake to the lush rainforests of Central Station and Wangoobla Creek boardwalk. You will walk under the majestic rainforest giants to meet your guide for a picnic lunch (salad and cold meat sandwiches)
Afternoon:
After lunch you will walk along the pristine Wangoolba Creek under the rainforest to Pile Valley, where your guide will meet you and go through some detailed information about the flora and history of K’gari (Fraser island) and take you in the 4wd transfer to your accommodation at Eurong on K’gari’s Eastern Beach.
Walk in the beautiful Evening:
Arrive at the well equipped Bringabeeralong Beach house for your nights accommodation in quad share rooms. Our friendly volunteers will prepare your meal of fish or chicken stir fry. Take a walk to the beach for an evening star show (weather permitting) anticipation brewing for the adventures that await on Day 2.
Day 2: Coastal Wonders
Rise with the sun and fuel up with a continental breakfast, (selection of cereals, toast and fruit, tea and coffee) ready to explore the coastal wonders of K’gari.
Morning:
Setting off along pristine beaches, your senses will be invigorated by the salty breeze and the rhythmic crash of waves. Keep your eyes peeled for playful dolphins or whales dancing in the surf and majestic seabirds soaring overhead. We will exit the beach at Happy Valley and drop you to the trailhead of the Kgari Great Walk where you walk 4km into Lake Garawongera (tea tree) lake where your guide will meet you and provide a picnic lunch of salads, cold meat and wraps. Opportunities to swim.
Afternoon:
After your lunch your guide will transfer you in the 4wd along an old tram track through the rainforest to an ancient area of K’gari Fraser Island, where no other tour goes. The majestic Valley of the Giants, where ancient giant trees sour above your heads. You will walk 5 kilometres into the Valley of the Giants along a well signed track to the walkers camp where you will meet your guide for some afternoon tea and some more detailed information about this amazing world heritage island, where giant trees grow on sand.
After a short stop at the Giant Tallow Wood tree your guide will take you back to the barge landing at Kingfisher Resort where you will have the opportunity to grab a drink before embarking on on the ferry crossing and back to the mainland.
As the sun begins its descent, find a secluded spot to witness the spectacle of a fiery sunset painting the sky in hues of orange and pink.
