Located between Jabiru and Cooinda is Kakadu’s famous Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) Rock Art Site.
Learn and understand the rich cultural importance of the world’s most impressive rock art site. Listen to the family history that exists within the shelters of Kakadu’s escarpment. Feel a sense of the ancient connection that local Bininj (Aboriginal) people have had with this land for more than 65,000 years.
The only way to experience all this is with a local Bininj guide.
These tours are delivered by Yibekka Kakadu Tours which is 100% Aboriginal owned and staffed. By supporting these rock art tours, you are also helping support the local Aboriginal community.
Things to know
The main shelter is wheelchair accessible however other parts of the 1km walk includes uneven dirt tracks which require confident walkers.
Most art is able to be photographed however there are sections which the guide will ask that photos not be taken of the rock art.
Please bring a water bottle and ensure you have eaten before hand. While the shelters are a cool place to rest, the average temperature while walking outside is 24-34 degrees.
Toilets are available at the carpark.
