The Twelve Apostles is a collection of giant rock formations rising from the Southern Ocean, forming a significant landmark in the Port Campbell National Park. Originally part of limestone cliffs, millions of years of erosion have shaped these remnants into the striking formations we see today. The relentless Southern Ocean waves and powerful winds gradually eroded the softer limestone, creating caves within the cliffs. Over time, these caves turned into rock arches, and subsequent collapses resulted in the towering 45-meter-high rock stacks isolated from the coastline.
