DESCRIPTION
Spring has sprung and the wildflower display around the town of Collie is in full flight. Simone and Alison are Collie locals. We both own and operate small tourism businesses and have teamed up to share this tour with you. We want to share and experience the very best locations to see Collie wildflowers.
Our small group tours are limited in number to ensure you always feel like its a personal experience.
During our tour we are going to explore Gnaala Karla Booja Country. We pay our respects to the past, present and emerging first nation people.
We start our day, you can either select a pick up location or contact us if you need collecting or meet the team at the Collie Visitor Centre ready to depart at 10am. We invite you onto Traaverse’s Toyota Communter to start exploring under the giant canopy of Jarrah & Marri Forest – make our way to Minningup Pool, and we take the scenic way to the magnificent Wellington National Park. (WNP)
The WNP is now world famous for the Biggest Dam Mural, the park covers 17 000 hectares of ancient jarrah, marri and blackbutt forest. The Collie River has carved its path creating scenic picnic spots, kayaking options, swimming, fishing and bushwalking either along or in the land surrounding the park. In spring we can see a wide range of endemic flowers that bloom at this time. These include, jug and bunny orchids, Purple Hovea Chorizemifolia, Holly Leafed Hovea, Yellow Hibbertia Butter Cups, and many more If we are really lucky we may see some of the local birds blue fairy wrens and black cockatoos but harder to find are the chuditch, quenda, possum and woylie! Did you know that the Forest has QUOKKA’S!! keep your eyes open along the way.
We make our way into the forest led by Alison to explore, talk, relax and savour the moment. We visit Di and Stephen at the Kiosk at the Dam, lunch – grazing platter or an option selection of a meal (please view the menu and make a note in the LUNCH SECTION) and a drink to recharge you!
