We have partnered with our neighbours at the Chef-hatted award winning Hunters Quarter (HQ) restaurant to offer you this iconic Hunter Valley experience. Combining our popular Tulloch Hunter Heroes wine tasting with a delicious 2 course a la carte lunch. Choose if you would like to start your day with a wine tasting followed by lunch (select the 11:00am booking), or lunch followed by your tasting (select the 12:30pm booking). Tulloch Wines and Hunters Quarter are a short 2 minute drive or easy 10 minute walk from each other.
Tulloch Hunter Heroes Wine Tasting Experience
The Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest producing wine region. The first vines were planted in the 1820s. Today there are over 150 wineries producing a wide range of exceptional wines reflective of their origin. One of the founding families of Hunter Valley wines, the Tulloch family story began in 1895 when John Younie (J.Y.) Tulloch accepted an unusual settlement for a debt – a 43 acre property in nearby Pokolbin. Tulloch took an immediate liking to the property and the five acres of neglected Shiraz vines it contained and undertook his first foray into viticulture and winemaking.
Immerse yourself in the history of Tulloch Wines in Australia’s oldest wine region, the Hunter Valley. In this tasting 6 Tulloch Wines have been chosen to perfectly represent the ‘Hunter Heroes’, the best known grape varieties of the Hunter being Semillon, Shiraz, Chardonnay & Verdelho. Included in this tasting is a wine from our museum cellar giving you an opportunity to taste and compare an aged Hunter wine alongside current release wines.
Hunters Quarter 2 Course lunch (Entrée + Main or Main + Dessert)
Owned and operated by husband and wife team Brian & Jen Duncan. Chef Brian Duncan brings a wealth of global and local experience in fine dining to HQ, having worked at the Dorchester and Claridges Hotels in the upmarket area of Mayfair in London. Brian was also the executive chef at Level 41 and The Establishment, two of Sydney’s premier restaurants. HQ is a relaxed and elegant dining destination in the heart of Pokolbin. A contemporary a la carte dining experience with welcoming service in a unique and beautiful setting. With a private terrace in the vineyards, it’s the perfect place to while away a few hours with family, friends and fantastic food. At Tulloch we are proudly family friendly and inclusive. We have created experiences for both your younger kids, teenagers and non-drinkers. All visitors to our Cellar Door require a booking and your group will be seated together on the one table. We have mobility parking spaces available and direct level access to our Cellar Door. Guide & Support dogs are welcome inside. If you have particular mobility requirements please let us know so we can help to accommodate your arrival.
Junior Experience (Child) $55 – Let the kids get involved and keep them entertained whilst you enjoy your wine tasting with our specially prepared Tulloch Junior Experience with 4 different soft drinks & 4 matching snacks (nut free). For lunch, HQ has prepared a Kids 2-course menu to choose from. Suitable for kids 3-12yrs. Please select the Child pricing for this experience.
Teens Experience (Teenager) $130 – A sophisticated experience to be enjoyed by your teens whilst you enjoy your Tulloch wine tasting. A selection of 3 Mailer McGuire specialty Kombuchas paired with a local cheese box. HQ 2 course lunch for Teens will be chosen from the same a la carte menu as the adults. Suitable for Teens 13-17yrs and other non-drinkers in your group. Please select the Teenager pricing for this experience.
