DESCRIPTION

COME ABOARD FOR A DAY LIKE NO OTHER
Leaving Airlie Beach at 8 am we head south and into the Clark Ranges, and in the rainforest-clad mountains lies Eungella National Park and the township of Eungella, at the head of the Pioneer Valley. Australia’s longest, oldest stretch of sub-tropical rainforest, ranging over 51,700 hectares, the park draws its name from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘Land of the Clouds’.Thousands of years of isolation have allowed the rainforest to nurture an abundance of native life such as the platypus, and is one of the very few places in Australia to spot this shy creature in its natural environment. It’s here you will enjoy a real Aussie BBQ lunch. Then we head off to Finch Hatton Gorge.

Finch Hatton Gorge is a wonderful landscape of waterfalls, lush flora, and volcanic boulder formations making Finch Hatton Gorge a must-see attraction. There are many walking tracks that weave through sub-tropical rainforests. One of the most popular trails starts at the Finch Hatton picnic area and takes you on a 1.6-kilometer journey to the beautiful Araluen waterfall. The granite boulders and surrounding vegetation make this an ideal place to take in the scenery. Take a refreshing dip in one of the nearby rock pools, a cooling haven favored by locals in summer. Continue 1.4 kilometers to reach the Wheel of Fire Cascades, another beautiful waterfall with a large rock pool at its base, popular for swimming. This second part of the walk is more challenging, with uphill segments and stairs to climb, but the views are well worth it.
