Our 4 day walks explores a diverse range of scenery from bushland to waterfalls, along trails through the vines and sections of the 1200km Heysen Trail as it winds its way along the Waitpinga Cliffs. The ultimate combination of walking, food, wine and coast.
No heavy packs to carry
We invented the phrase “Pack Free Walking Experiences” and it’s what we do best. We ensure our guests don’t undertake walks where carrying the burden of a heavy pack is necessary. Our walks are designed to be carefree and enjoyable yet still challenging . Walk with only a small day pack so you can soak up the scenery along the way, carrying as little as your camera, lunch and water each day.

We spend 2 nights accommodation at the Bluff Resort Apartments overlooking Encounter Bay Victor Harbour. These apartments are set in an idyllic location offering wonderful ocean views and a swimming pool to refresh after a day’s walking. Guests will enjoy Ocean and pool view studios with king or twin beds and ensuites. Note: Groups of 3 or more can be accommodated together in 2 and 3 bedroom apartments upon request.
At the 4 star Serafinos with cellar door
Spend one night in the heart of the McLaren Vale wine country at the 4 star Serafino.
Guests will enjoy deluxe spa studios overlooking the gardens and swimming pool with the choice of king or twin beds with ensuite.
The property has an excellent cellar door where guests can stroll over after a day’s walking and sample the Serafino wines.

As a special treat on day 3 after our walk, we enjoy wine tasting and a celebratory 2 course lunch at the d’Arenberg vineyard restaurant set in a 19th-century homestead, with spectacular views of the rolling hills and vineyards. The food here will definitely tempt your tastebuds featuring local and seasonal produce.

During our stay at McLaren Vale, we will indulge in a two-course dinner in the Serafino Restaurant complimented by regional wines. Afternoon: 16-minute transfer from the end of the walk to accommodation.
WALK GRADE: 12kms. 6 hours. Grade: Moderate to Hard. Total climb 633m. Many hills.
FLEXIBLE WALKING: Shorter and easier walk also available today. Deep Creek waterfall walk. 4kms. 2-3 hours walk.
WALK ITINERARY: Meet your guides in the foyer of the Chancellor on Currie in Adelaide and transfer to the Fleurieu Peninsula and the start of the trail. Today’s walk takes us into the Deep Creek Conservation Park. This walk which forms part of the 1200km Heysen Trail, showcases some of the best ocean and bush views in the park. As you walk through the park listen out for the 100 odd species of birds that live here and be on the lookout for the native wildlife such as western grey kangaroos and short-beaked echidnas. Explore a diversity of landscapes from Xanthorrhoea hillsides, through stands of tall eucalyptus, see pretty waterfalls and explore Deep Creek Cove. After your walk, we transfer to our accommodation for the next two nights at Bluff Resort, Encounter Bay. Tonight enjoy dinner in the Whalers Restaurant featuring local wines from this area.
TRANSFER TIMES: Morning: 30 minute transfer from our accommodation to your cruise.
Afternoon: 35-minute transfer from the end of the walk to accommodation.
WALK GRADE: Afternoon walks 5.2kms in total. Grade: Easy. Terrain: Undulating trail, a mixture of dirt trails and cobblestone path with some stairs.
WALK ITINERARY: Enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading out for today’s adventures. You can’t visit this area without seeing this region from the water. This morning we enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Coorong, an area best known as the setting for the iconic movie “Storm Boy”. During your experience, we cruise past the local Seal Colony and see lots of pelicans, cormorants and many other species of migratory birdlife. Sample Native Bush tucker before joining our walk through the pretty Coorong National Park. After our cruise and lunch, we enjoy afternoon walks at Port Elliot and Granite Island. Our first hike takes us from pretty Horsehoe Bay across the headland of Freemans Knob, passing Rocky Bay and Green Bay before reaching Knights Beach. See beautiful views over the Southern Ocean, pretty beaches, historic relics and beautiful bays. After we make our walk to Victor Harbour and make our way across the causeway to Granite Island. The landscape here is dominated by impressive granite boulders including Umbrella Rock as well as stunning views of Encounter Bay, the bluff and islands. The island is a wildlife paradise with many seabirds including Pied Cormorants, Pacific Gulls, Sooty Oyster Catchers easily spotted, as well as dolphins, New Zealand Fur Seal and little penguins. Afterwards, we return to our accommodation. Tonight the group will enjoy a la carte dining in a local restaurant including regional South Australia wines.

Afternoon: 52-minute transfer from the end of the walk to accommodation.
WALK GRADE: 11.5kms. 6 hours. Grade: Moderate. Total climb 418m. Terrain: Undulating terrain combination of dirt walking trails, fire trails and boardwalks, some steps.
WALK ITINERARY: Enjoy breakfast before heading out for today’s walk. Our walk today’s forms part of the earlier sections of the Heysen Trail through the Newland Head Conservation Park. Our walk takes us through flowering coastal scrubland and along the rugged coastline offering spectacular views from Waitpinga cliffs lookout, Kings Head and the Bluff. Keep an eye out for white-bellied sea-eagles that inhabit the cliffs here and in the migrating season, you may be lucky enough to see a whale making its journey from the lookouts. After our walk, we transfer to our new accommodation in the heart of the world-famous wine region of McLaren Vale. Our accommodation for tonight is at the charming 4 star Serafino, set amongst the vines in deluxe spa rooms. Enjoy free time after we arrive to visit Serafino’s cellar door and sample their home-made wines. This evening we enjoy dinner in the restaurant featuring superb McLaren Vale wines.

Afternoon: 50-minute transfer from the end of the walk to Adelaide
WALK GRADE: 6kms. 3 hours. Grade: Easy. Mainly flat, scenic trail.
WALK ITINERARY: Enjoy breakfast before heading out for today’s walk. Our walk today takes us along the Shiraz trail from McLaren Vale to the quaint village of Willunga To McLaren Vale. The trail passes through pretty vineyards of the region, with scenic rolling hills as a backdrop. Take in views of charming wineries along the way as well as Suffolk sheep and llamas grazing. After our walk, we enjoy a celebratory lunch at d’Arenberg vineyard. Indulge in a superb lunch with wines from the vineyard. A great way to finish our walking adventure. Afterwards, we return to Adelaide where our walk concludes at the Chancellor on Currie or the Grand Chancellor Adelaide. If you have driven to the Fleurieu Peninsula transfer to your car will be organised for you.
FINISH TIME: Arrive back into Adelaide between 4.00pm and 4.30pm
