Afternoon Tea Walk at Siding Spring Observatory

This tour operates outside of normal visiting hours, giving you exclusive access to Australia’s National Optical Telescope site.

Siding Spring Observatory is superbly placed to see this remarkable range of volcanic natural features, and the orange glints of the sun shows them perfectly. As you walk up to the highest point of this magnificent mountain ridge, your guide will explain the history of the site, point out some remarkable telescopes, explain the science that has taken place within the dome walls and give you lots of time to take photos of the Warrumbungle National Dark Sky Park.

Your 90-minute walking tour includes:

Stop At: Siding Spring Observatory, Observatory Road, Coonabarabran, New South Wales 2357 Australia

On this 90 minute walking tour, you’ll stop and go inside the Visitors Gallery of Australia’s Largest Optical Telescope. This is the first stop at several of the telescopes that dot the ridgetop of Siding Spring Mountain. As you stretch your legs on the path heading to the highest point of the plateau, you’ll have time to take photos of the Warrumbungle National Park which sits magnificently beside the observatory.
The tour ends with a special sunset drink and some nibbles to share.
