DESCRIPTION
Your Electric Bike adventure begins from the Gold Coast airport at 9:00am.
Escape the city and enjoy a scenic flight transfer, soaring over the New South Whales boarder to survey from above the beautiful tapestry of volcanic mountains, valleys & rivers that make up the stunning Northern Rivers region.
Landing at the little country airport of Murwillumbah NSW, you’ll disembark to meet the Better by bike crew who will transport you via road to the Murwillumbah train station. Here you’ll be inducted and fitted to the latest E-bikes to begin your 20km adventure along the newly established Northern Rivers rail trail. (See trail map in photos above).
Your ride will begin on a sealed section of the rail trail, running beside sugar cane fields & picturesque farmland as you roll out of Murwillumbah. A great stop for morning tea is available at the Tweed River Art Gallery and the new Olley Art Centre, enjoy some local art & history overlooking the Tweed River and Mount Warning, the impressive 1.1km high central core of the dormant volcano which erupted 23million years ago, and shaped the regions rivers, valleys and towns you’ll ride through. Back on the trail you’ll continue south through sections of rainforest, tree tunnels and bridges passing via the old Dunbible and Stokers Sliding rail stations. Just a further 800meters along the trail you’ll arrive at the sign posted detour to, Hosanna Farm. This is a magnificent lunch stop, with great food & plenty of baby animals to see.
Back on the trail your next highlight is the 500-metre-long Burringbar Rail Tunnel built by the early settlers back in 1894. Be sure to turn on your handlebar mounted light and make your way through the tunnel. If undisturbed you may catch a glimpse of the resident glow worms. The next section of the ride passes through native rainforests & rolling pastures to the Upper Burringbar Station. A little further along the trail offers a short detour to visit the Tweed Valley Whey farmhouse for a well earned home made gelato, cake & coffee.
On the home stretch just 5km to reach Mooball Train Station, where you can explore the popular Moo Moo Road House with motor cycle memorabilia and cafe. From here you’ll be collected by the Better By Bike crew and transported back by road to the Murwillumbah airfield for your afternoon scenic flight home, including a spectacular lap around Mt Warning by air with the option to extend the flight to fly around Cape Byron lighthouse.
Arriving back at the Gold Coast airport at 3pm. It’ll be a winged & wheeled Adventure you & your loved ones will never forget!

WHAT TO BRING
– Clothing suitable for a bike ride, like activewear.
– Enclosed shoes are mandatory.
– A baseball cap.
– We recommend a small back pack for BYO water bottles (fill points along trail) phones/sunscreen etc.
PLEASE NOTE
This is an all day tour consisting of:
– A morning and afternoon scenic transit flight, departing from the Gold Coast at 9am to Murwillumbah, to return back to the Gold Coast at 3:30pm.
– A 20km Self guided Rail Trail Ride on E-Bikes at your own pace, taking on average 2hr to 2.5hrs.
The E-bikes make easy work of the mostly flat rail trail, however we recommend a moderate level of fitness is required. (If a flight of stairs leaves you breathless, this is not the tour for you).
– A minimum of 2 Adult fare’s required per tour.
– Due to aircraft requirements, we are limited to a maximum of:
3 adults or 2 adults & 2 children (12yrs & Under).
(Unfortunately our tours are not suitable for children under 5yrs).
We can offer multiple flights to cater for larger families or groups.
