Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Darwin travel to Kakadu National Park

Stop At: Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve, Arnhem Highway, Humpty Doo, Northern Territory Australia
Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve is a beautiful spot to visit with a variety of monsoon and floodplain habitats to view. Full of Native and introduced flora and fauna, you may even be lucky enough to spot a crocodile basking in the sun. For those bird lovers this spectacular wetlands is the perfect place to spot them. With multiple viewpoints along the dam wall there is plenty of opportunity to depart the vehicle and take photos.

Stop At: Ubirr, Oenpelli Road, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory Australia
This unique rock art gallery is one of Kakadu’s most famous spots. Ubirr rock art is considered some of the best in the world, featuring x-ray painting, Important food animals and a rare and special painting of a thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger) extinct on the mainland for more than 2000 years.
Other than the incredible rock art that can be found while visiting Ubirr the views from the top are not to be missed with 360 degree views across floodplains, woodlands and dark ribbons of rainforest.

The Guluyambi Cultural Cruise is a unique boat tour on Kakadu’s scenically spectacular East Alligator River.

Take in the wonderful pristine wilderness as we leisurely cruise up stream. An Aboriginal guide provides guests with an insight into their culture – local mythology, the river’s abundant food chain, traditional uses for many plants and animals as well as bush survival skills. Disembark on the Arnhem Land side of the river and be treated to a display of traditional hunting and gathering implements before heading back down stream.

Injalak Arts at the Border Store is an ethical place to buy authentic Indigenous art in Kakadu National Park.

The outlet sells paintings on bark and paper, weavings and sculpture as well as hand-screen printed fabric lengths.

Injalak Arts plays a central role in the artistic and cultural life of traditional Aboriginal artists living in remote communities in western Arnhem Land. Day 2: Hike and Explore Kakadu!

Stop At: Nanguluwurr Art Site, Nourlangie Rd, Kakadu NT 0822, Australia
A beautiful hike through the bush (3.4 km return) will take us to Nanguluwurr rock art site. This hidden gem is a magical place where you can see powerful depictions of ancestral spirits, animals, and the fascinating early depiction of contact between Aboriginal people and Europeans in the form of a two-masted sailing ship with anchor chain.

Stop At: Burrungkuy, Kakadu NT 0822, Australia
This rock art gallery is a must visit spot within Kakadu. From its rich history painted on the sandstone walls to the shaded rock shelters that give us a peak into what the life of the Bininj people might have been like this place is sure to impress. Learn about the stories behind the world heritage listed art as you are guided through this incredible place.
With views over the Arnhem Escarpment.

Stop At: Nawurlandja Lookout, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory Australia
Nawurlandja Lookout offers world-class views across Anbangbang Billabong to Burrungkuy (Nourlangie Rock) and the Arnhem Land escarpment.

The vistas are impressive all year round. Whether you venture out first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon, you won’t be disappointed. This peaceful spot is a great place to sit and take in the scenery at sunset or watch dramatic storms roll in during the tropical summer.

Day 3: Culture and Wildlife experience before heading back to Darwin

Stop At: Yellow Water (Ngurrungurrudjba) Boat Ramp, Kakadu NT 0822, Australia
Embark on the famous Yellow Water Billabong boat cruise. This 2 hour cruise is the perfect opportunity to view some of the Northern Territories wild and unique wildlife. View crocodiles sun baking on the banks or swimming leisurely through the billabong alongside your boat. Keep your eyes peeled for buffalo and try and spot a few of the many species of birds that inhabit the area. This tour is fully guided and it is recommended you bring along a camera.

Stop At: Warradjan Cultural Centre, Kakadu Kakadu National Park, Jim Jim, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory 0886 Australia
Developed by the Aboriginal traditional owners of Kakadu, Warradjan should be a ‘must see’ for all visitors to the region. The displays include artefacts that illustrate the stories that the traditional owners wish to share with visitors. The Centre mixes contemporary techniques – such as videos – to cover various subjects, ranging from personal histories to bush tucker. The gallery shop sells a range of arts and crafts including traditional Didgeridoos local artwork, books and cards.

Stop At: Marrawuddi Arts & Culture, 2 Gregory Pl, Jabiru, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory 0886 Australia
Marrawuddi Arts, in the heart of Kakadu National Park, is owned and run by the Mirarr Traditional Owners through their representative organisation the Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation (GAC).

All artworks in Marrawuddi are created by Bininj (Aboriginal people) from Kakadu and the surrounding country.
