Join us on an exclusive 4wd safari adventure of a lifetime showcasing the very best Kakadu & Litchfield National Park has to offer. Discover some of the oldest and best-preserved Aboriginal Rock Art in the world, keep a lookout for some of our prehistoric friends (crocodiles) as we cruise the ancient wetlands by boat. Visit spectacular waterfalls and cool off in some of the most beautiful natural plunge pools imaginable. We’ll be exploring some truly spectacular countryside, amongst pockets of rainforest packed with endemic species of flora and fauna. This fully accommodated tour has you relaxing indoors in comfort each night after action-packed days of exploration, culture, and unmatched vistas.

DAY 1: Darwin to Kakadu National Park

Start your adventure by departing from Darwin and head out to the Wetlands Region where the magnificent scenery of the top ends starts to be on show. Along the way we have ample opportunity to spot a huge range of Top End birdlife, not to mention some fresh and salty apex predators… crocodiles!

We journey on to Kakadu National Park where our home for the next two nights in Jabiru awaits. The Bowali Visitor Centre offers a beautiful introduction to the Park’s landscape and wildlife and we take time to soak it in, before checking into our local accommodation. After some relaxation we journey north to *Cahills Crossing on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land.  Here we embark on a cultural tour of a lifetime – cruising down the East Alligator River on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land to experience the dreamtime stories of the area, majestic birdlife and of course hope to see crocodiles along where they and the locals aim to catch some barramundi! We will visit one of the best-preserved collections of Aboriginal Rock Art in the world at Ubirr rock upon sunset. This incredibly significant site showcases many styles of Rock Art and allows us to climb up high for a sunset that will blow you away looking out over the Nadab Floodplain. We head home back to Jabiru for dinner and a comfortable night’s accommodation. Meals: Lunch, Dinner. Accom: Anbinik Kakadu Resort (either Shared 6Packs, Cabins or Private Anbinik Suites) or similar. Driving Distance: 420km. Hike Distance and Grading: 1km loop Grade 2-3.

Please be aware, access to the falls is seasonal with conditions permitting, and at least a moderate to high level of fitness and agility is required to undertake this walk. We hike out to the huge plunge pool and accompanying beach area where you can enjoy plenty of time to cool off surrounded by thick monsoon forest framed by magnificent rock escarpments. We head back home with an opportunity to stop at the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you have time to delve into the culture of Kakadu and gain deeper insight into the stories, flora and fauna of this World Heritage Listed National Park. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Accom: Anbinik Kakadu Resort (either Shared 6Packs, Cabins or Private Anbinik Suites) or similar. Driving Distance: 250km. Hike Distance and Grading: 4 km Grade 6.

Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) Rock features incredible Aboriginal Rock Art and dreamtime stories of the Bininj people. Another 4WD track awaits us as we travel south and enjoy a picnic lunch at the plunge pool of Barramundi Gorge (Maguk) Waterfall, one of the most picturesque and pristine waterfalls in Kakadu. Please note at least a moderate level of fitness and agility is required here with flat pathways combined with rocky crossings leading you to the plunge pool through the monsoon forest.
