DESCRIPTION

Experience the raw Australia and head North for Winter. This trip crosses the iconic Kimberly Region and into the Northern Territory. Four wheel drive adventures, river crossings, crocodiles, breathtaking landscapes and countless fresh water swimming holes – this is one for the ADVENTURE HUNGRY traveller!

There’s no better way to start or finish your trip in Broome than by parking the bus on Cable Beach and taking a refreshing
swim in the ocean.

Just North of Broome is the Dampier Peninsula. We can head to the tip ‘Cape Leveque’ to check out the remote aboriginal communities of One Arm Point and Beagle Bay or head to the Western Beaches where the red dirt meets the ocean.

Leaving the bus behind for two days and one night we’ll load up the 4WD and set off to explore the Gibb River Road. Before we even reach the Gibb you’ll be dodging bats and fresh water crocs at Tunnel Creek and Winjana Gorge!

After an epic day of off-roading we’ll set up camp overlooking the outback and cook up a storm in the camp oven on an open fire.
The next morning we’ll head to Bell or Manning Gorge for a well deserved swim and relax in these stunning waterfalls before heading back to the bus for a nice hot shower.

The crazy rock formations known as the Bungle Bungles are a day mission in the 4WD. We’ll spend a full day hiking and scrambling in this National Park checking out the various gorges including Echidna Chasm and Cathedral Gorge.

El Questro Station is at the eastern end of the Gibb. This station has lots of awesome swimming holes and hikes as well as hot water springs to enjoy. It’s a tropical oasis surrounded by the harsh dry outback. Emma Gorge and El Questro Gorge are two of the best in the area.

Just on the WA/ NT border is the massive Lake Argyle, very well known for its infinity pool and fresh water crocs. There are options to go on a boat tour/ hire some kayaks or walk to some incredible viewpoints.

Between Kununarra and Katherine, we’ll stop at Joe Creek and stretch our legs on a short walk to see some aboriginal rock art on the cliffs and again along the Victoria River to see if we can spot some Salties sunning themselves on the banks!

In and around Katherine there’s plenty to keep us busy. There’s crystal clear hot springs in town, at Katherine Gorgeyou can hire kayaks or walk around the gorge and Edith Falls where you cant resist swimming beneath the powerful waterfalls and sunbaking on the hot rocks.

Litchfield National Park has so much to offer in such a small area. We’ll visit the weird and wonderful Magnetic Termite Nests, walk and swim into countless swimming holes and marvel at the picture perfect Wangi Falls.

To start or finish your trip to the top end there’s the option to join a short cruise on the Adelaide River, where you can watch the salt water crocs jumping out of the water for scraps of buffalo meat on the boat. It’s the only safe way to get so close to these unique and wild predators!
