This Aboriginal-guided fishing experience takes place on stunning Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island) in Queensland’s south east region, just off the coast of Brisbane. After travelling via ferry or helicopter to Minjerribah, meet local Quandamooka Traditional Owner, Andrew Watego, who will be your guide for a beach fishing experience like no other. Follow the scent of the woodfire on the beach as he cooks eugaries (pippies) ready to eat thus beginning your fishing experience. Allow thisQuandamooka Elder to slowly reveal the land and sea of his ancestors as he teaches you how to fish and how to read the flora, fauna and sea life for clues as to what’s biting.

Itinerary

Guests make their way to Archerfield Airport to meet the helicopter company that will fly them to Stradbroke Island – Minjerribah. Meet your Indigenous Fishing Guide on arrival and head to the best fishing location of the day, based on time of year and tides. Enjoy 3 hours of private fishing tuition whilst listening to the stories and culture of one of the Quandamooka Elders and Traditional Owner of the land and sea. Taste fresh eugaries (pippies) cooked on the open fire just for you. Transfer back to your helicopter for the journey back to Brisbane.
