DESCRIPTION
Explore The Workshops Rail Museum, an interactive and authentic heritage and cultural experience located at the home of Australia’s oldest working railway workshop. An exciting adventure for kids and rail enthusiasts of all ages, the museum brings history to life with a range of hands-on exhibits, multi-media encounters and stories related to the steam locomotives and machinery. The museum is home to over 15 exhibits just waiting to be discovered explaining the role rail has played in our world.
Located a short drive from Brisbane in Ipswich, The Workshops Rail Museum, part of the Queensland Museum Network, is winner of Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage & Cultural Tourism. The museum is open daily from 9:30am to 4pm and guests must wear closed in footwear to embark on the Heritage Railway Workshops Tour – a must-see for an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the operating workshop.
