Join this 2 day/1 night camping Fraser Island 4WD tour and discover why this world heritage listed island is one of the most visited islands in Queensland. Fraser Island is the only sand island in the world to have rainforest growing on it plus over 100 freshwater lakes, coloured sands and even a beached shipwreck! Discover some of the island’s highlights including a visit to Lake McKenzie, Lake Wabby, the rainforest boardwalk from Central Station to Wangoolba Creek, join guided island walks and an evening around the campfire. This small group overnight camping tour departs from Brisbane, Sunshine Coast or Rainbow Beach with an overnight stay at Govi Creek Campsite with eco facilities, hot showers and toilets. All camping equipment is supplied but you are welcome to bring your own sleeping bag if you prefer. This value for money tour includes return transfers, camping equipment and most meals. Itinerary
Day one
- Travel north from your pickup location toward Double Island Point. Take the opportunity to photo Point Lighthouse and the coloured sand cliffs of Rainbow Beach, where you will break at Rainbow Beach to enjoy your freshly made picnic lunch
- Depart Rainbow beach and 4WD along tracks to Inskip Point beach and Fraser Island lookout, before boarding the ferry cruise to Fraser Island
- Cruise across the Straight viewing Tin Can Bay, Fraser Island’s west coast and Hervey Bay and keep a lookout for dolphins, turtles, dugong, sharks, eagles and seabirds
- Arrive to the world heritage National Park named Fraser Island. The local guide will share information and stories both old and new as you 4WD Fraser Island’s 75 Mile Surf Beach with an eye out for dingoes and kangaroos
- 4WD along Fraser Island’s 75 Mile Eastern Surf Beach to Govi Creek where you will take some time to settle into your campground and explore the surrounding area before traveling north on the beach highway before walking for a swim at Lake Wabby
- Travel North along the beach highway for a swim at Lake Wabby, Fraser’s deepest lake. You may spot turtles as you swim in the green water, relax on the warm sand or hike the lakes famous Sandhill
- 4WD Fraser Island’s 75 Mile eastern Surf Beach to Eli Creek, and the Maheno Shipwreck
- Travel back to your campsite, enjoying the last light of the day exploring the beaches and nature walks
- Enjoy a BBQ dinner at the excellent facilities in Fraser Island National Park environment and outdoor entertainment
- Unwind from your day with a hot shower and campfire
- Meals included on day one is a picnic lunch at Rainbow Beach with cold drinks, cold meats, picnic salad, fresh fruits, cakes, wraps and bread rolls. A BBQ Dinner, fresh salads, garlic bread and cold drinks. After dinner, hot drinks and marshmallows around the campfire
Day Two
- Have the option of an early rise to see the sunrise over the Ocean, enjoy a walk or hike before breakfast or sleep in and wake slowly to the calls of the forest
- Spend the morning the surrounding areas, enjoy a lake swim, a hike or photograph the beaches and wildlife
- Take an optional hike through the rainforest along the boardwalk from Central Station to see the rare giant King Fern, the world heritage Satinay Forest and crystal clear waters of Wanggoolba Creek meandering between Picabeen Palms and Central Station before returning to the mainlands and to your drop off location
- Meals included on day two is breakfast with tea coffee, Fruit Juice, cereals and toast, jam, honey, fruits and bread
