Itinerary
Day 1: Adelaide to Lake Hart
Stop At: Clare Valley, 8 Spring Gully Road, South Australia 5453 Australia
We will head into the Adelaide Hills, through the Clare Valley wine region. Lunch stop at the beautful Blesing Gardens Winery in the Southern Flinders Ranges.
Duration: 3 hours
Stop At: Port Augusta, Port Augusta, South Australia
Stopping in Port Augusta, this is our last taste of “civilisation” for the trip. We will stock up at the supermarket and bottle shop before we leave the city lights for the wide open desert spaces.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Woomera Missile Park, Banool Ave/Dewang Ave, Woomera, South Australia 5720 Australia
Drop into Woomera, which is the beginning of the Woomera Prohibited Zone. The worst largest prohibited military area.
45 Minutes down the road we will set up camp at one of the salt lakes in the area.

Day 2: Lake Hart to Coober Pedy
Stop At: Coober Pedy, Coober Pedy, South Australia
The famous ‘underground’ opal town in Outback SA. We will arrive in CP for lunch then take a tour of the town, including a tour of an underground opal mine, which is connected to our accomodation for the night.

Stop At: Umoona Opal Mine & Museum, 14 Hutchison St, Coober Pedy, South Australia 5723 Australia
Guided tour of the most famous opal mine in Coober Pedy.

Day 3: Coober Pedy to Uluru
Stop At: Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Red Centre, Northern Territory
It’s a long day on the bus, but an enjoyable experience as we head deep into the central desert. We arrive at Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort) in the late afternoon. Head to The Rock for the famous red sunset.

Accommodation included: Ayers Rock Resort. The ‘Coach Campground’ will be our home for the next two nights.
Day 4: Uluru & Kata Tjuta
Stop At: Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, Lasseter Highway, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory Australia
Up early to walk through the “Valley of the winds” walk at Kata-Tjuta (The Olgas). On to the cultural center and a guided cultural walk at The Rock.
Free afternoon to take it all in, whether it be walking in the shade of the desert oaks or relaxing at the resort.

Day 5: Uluru to Kings Creek Station
Stop At: Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Red Centre, Northern Territory
Sunrise at The Rock. Then walk around Uluru, a 2-hour ‘base walk’. Back to camp for lunch, then a 4 hour drive towards Kings Creek Station for our new red sandy camp.

Day 6: Kings Canyon to Finke River.
Stop At: Kings Canyon, Watarrka National Park Via Luritja Road Or Larapinta Drive, Northern Territory 0872 Australia
Up early to complete the rim walk at Kings Canyon, aka Watarrka National Park. Option of a scenic helicopter flight. Back to camp to a swim, lunch and packup, before heading towards The Finke River to set up bushcamp.

Accommodation included: Bushcamp near Finke River. The oldest river in the world.
Day 7: West MacDonnel Ranges – Alice Springs
Stop At: Tjoritja/West MacDonnell National Park, 7km from Alice Springs Along Larapinta Drive, Northern Territory Australia
Out to the West MacDonnell Ranges in the morning. We work our way back down the range, taking in some of the most beautful ranges and waterholes that the desert has to offer. Finish the day (and tour) in Alice Spings.
Option available to express back to Adelaide in the bus over the following 2 days.
