Adelaide Ocean Safari and Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari have joined forces to bring you an exciting marine expedition travelling along the Fleurieu Peninsula to Kangaroo Island!
Departing from Glenelg on the luxurious Adelaide Ocean Safari vessel “Force of Nature”. Custom-built specifically for these waters with 38 undercover seats surrounded by roll down blinds for added comfort and safety. Settle in as you cruise along the Adelaide metropolitan coastline. Following the Kaurna trail, pass by Hallet Cove Conservation Park and learn about the cultural and geological heritage of the area. Along the way look out for friendly marine wildlife such as seals, dolphins, bird-life and whales (seasonal).
Travel through Encounter Marine Park and pass by Port Noarlunga Reef Sanctuary Zone as you learn about the unique local marine environment. You might even be able to glimpse the exposed rocky reef at low tide! Look for the iconic Port Willunga jetty remains and cruise past the stunning Carrickalinga Beach. Stopping at places like Second Valley and Rapid Bay to soak in the serenity and enjoy your seafood platter. Sample South Australian prawns, oysters as you relax in the beautiful bay.
Continue on and pass Cape Jervis before making the crossing over Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island. This strait once connected the island to the mainland and was formed by the sea 13,000 years ago. Arrive at Christmas Cove, Penneshaw- a geological monument that was carved out by an ancient glacier. This is where you will be transferred by coach to your lunch destination.
Return to Christmas Cove Marina to board the vessel and begin your scenic journey back along the Fleurieu Peninsula and onto Adelaide. Enjoy panoramic coastal views from this unique perspective from the sea. Have a glass of local South Australian wine, a great way to top off a spectacular day.
The journey to Kangaroo Island is up to 3.5 hours with 2 hours spent on the island for lunch. Then 3.5 hours for the return journey back to Adelaide.
