DESCRIPTION
DAY 1 – HOBART TO CRADLE MOUNTAIN
8:30am Hotel pickup in Hobart
Visit the beautiful heritage town of Ross, a convict built bridge and tasting of local produce, the famous scallop pie. Passing through the midlands farming region and heritage towns and see livestock & crop farms. Taste local honey and visit the eclectic Tiger Bar at Mole Creek Hotel.
Overnight stay at Cradle Mountain National Park to experience the incredible World Heritage Area. Evening time in Cradle Mountain to relax and explore at your own pace. Tasmanian native animals hide during the day and come out during the evening. Opportunities to see Wombats, Wallabies, Kangaroos, Possums and Quolls. After 5pm is the best time to be in Cradle Mountain – the area comes alive.

Dinner: There’s limited options in Cradle Mountain. We recommend Altitude Restaurant Cradle Mountain Hotel. (At own cost)

DAY 2 – CRADLE MOUNTAIN TO LAUNCESTON
8:30am Pickup after breakfast
Enjoy the scenery and walks in Cradle Mountain National Park until 2pm. Dove Lake Walk (easy, 2hrs) or Marion’s Lookout (steep, 3hrs). Pencil Pines Walk & Enchanted Walk, Waldheim Chalet and Weindorfers Forest Walk.
Visit Sheffield – a unique town of 30+ murals before enjoying a tastings of Tassie cheese at Ashgrove Cheese Factory and Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm all part of the scenic tourist drive to Launceston.
Lunch: Can be taken at a location along the day as discussed with your guide. (At own cost)
Dinner: There are numerous options in the area, discuss with your guide. (At own cost)
Accommodation: Grand Chancellor Launceston deluxe room, breakfast included.
DAY 3 – BAY OF FIRES & EAST COAST TASMANIA
8:30am Grand Chancellor Hotel pickkup
Scenic drive to Bay of Fires – relax on the beach or have a swim in the crystal clear waters (conditions permitting) (Lonely Planets must see for 2009). A walk to the Gardens: a renowned isolated shack area with stunning views of the ocean. A very scenic drive down the coastal road to pass plenty of white sandy beaches with crystal clear Pacific Ocean water.
Visit and taste local oysters at Freycinet Marine Farm on the Freycinet Penninsula then onto the spectacular views of the Southern Ocean from Cape Tourville Lighthouse and Sleepy Bay and Great Oyster Bay from Honeymoon Bay and enjoy a sunset on the deck at Freycinet Lodge.
Lunch: Recommended at Lobster Shack overlooking the Gulch. (At own cost)
Dinner: We recommend The Bay Seafood Restaurant at Freycinet Lodge for some great fresh seafood (At own cost)

DAY 4 – WINEGLASS BAY, RICHMOND & HOBART
8:30am Freycinet Lodge Hotel pickup
View The Hazards at Freycinet National Park. Take the impressive walk to the lookout of Wineglass Bay (2hrs)
Taste amazing local wines and stunning views across the Great Oyster Bay at Devils Corner and engage with the vineyard owners for a private tasting at Craigie Knowe Wines, the oldest vineyard on the East Coast. Enjoy the scenic Great East Coast Drive along rugged cliffs and beaches.
Explore Richmond Historic Village to see Australia’s oldest bridge, quaint timberwork, art and craft and unique antique shops. Relax and take a stroll through Hobart, Salamanca and Battery Point in the evening.
Lunch: Recommend local fish and chip lunch overlooking Maria Island at Triabunna. (At own cost)

DAY 5 – D’ENTRECASTEAUX CHANNEL & BONORONG
8:30am Old Woolstore Hotel pickup
Journey through rich forest on Mt Wellington/ kunanyi to the pinnacle for an incredible view over Hobart and Southern Tasmania
Stroll through the quaint stores at the Margate Train and explore the extensive native gardens at Inverawe. Travel through quaint D’Entrecasteaux Channel towns and pass by numerous farms nestled between bushlands. Learn about the history of the area on your drive down.
Taste unique sheep milk cheese and Gin and Vodka made from sheep whey, at Grandvewe. (first in the world) Drool over exquisite chocolates and locally made nougat at Nutpatch Chocolate Factory.
Guided tour to meet wombats, kangaroos and Tasmanian devils at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.
What to bring
The weather can be unpredictable in Tasmania and the evenings can be very cold. Warm jackets, a beanie and gloves are whole-heartedly recommended.
Solid walking shoes that you can comfortably walk for hours in. We are commonly on unpaved hiking trails.
Cameras & phone chargers – there are so many photo opportunities. Tasmania is stunningly beautiful and you’d hate to miss that instagram opportunity.
A healthy enthusiasm for a lot of fun and amazing experiences and some of the best local produce you will taste.

– All times are approximate and dependant upon conditions. All tours are subject to weather conditions and Great Expeditions take no responsibility for any cancellations, road or tour closures out of our control. We will wherever possible arrange alternate routes, tours and experiences for guests.
– All tasting fees and entrance fees are included (unless they are additional options and those additional costs will be advised).
– All other meals are at guests own expense.
– Dietary requirements are catered for with prior notice.
– Non alcoholic beverages are available.
– Private tours are flexible if small group has specific requirements.
– Minimum numbers of 4 persons per trip (otherwise a $150 supplement is charged for less than 4 persons).
– Air conditioned, small vehicle transfers.
– FULL PAYMENT IS REQUIRED 14 DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE.
