Scenic Drive to Cradle Mountain
Start your day with a scenic drive from Burnie to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair
National Park. Enjoy the changing landscapes as you pass through lush forests,
peaceful valleys, and stunning vistas that set the stage for the natural beauty
ahead.
Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre
Arriving at the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre, you can explore the informative
displays on the area’s natural history and conservation efforts. Take a moment
to stretch your legs and grab a quick snack before heading out to explore the
park.
Explore Cradle Mountain National Park
We’ll drive our tour vehicle into Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park,
giving us more time to explore the park’s spectacular scenery.
Options for Walks
The area offers a range of walks, each showcasing the best of Tasmania’s
wilderness:
- Dove
Lake Circuit Walk (6 km loop, approx. 2 hours): A stunning loop around
Dove Lake, offering some of the most iconic views of Cradle Mountain. - Enchanted
Walk (20 minutes): A short and easy walk through ancient rainforest,
ideal for a peaceful escape. - Waldheim
Alpine Walk (1.3 km, approx. 45 minutes): A tranquil walk to the
historic Waldheim huts, nestled in the forest. - Crater
Lake Walk (6 km return, approx. 2.5 hours): A more challenging walk
leading to the serene and secluded Crater Lake. - Lake
Lilla and Weindorfers Forest Walk (1.5 km loop, approx. 40 minutes): A
lovely walk through the forest, beside the pristine Lake Lilla. - Shadow
Lake Walk (9 km return, approx. 3.5 hours): A moderately challenging
walk to Shadow Lake, with spectacular views of Cradle Mountain.
National Parks Pass Included
The tour includes a National Parks Pass, granting you access to Cradle
Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park for the day. This pass is required for
entry and supports the conservation of this stunning wilderness area.
Return Journey with Scenic Views
After your time at Cradle Mountain, we’ll head back to Burnie, passing through
more scenic Tasmanian landscapes. Reflect on the beauty of the region as we
make our way back to the cruise terminal.
