The Loch Ard Gorge is the scene of Australia’s most famous shipwreck, the wreck of the Loch Ard, which sank here in 1878.

Stop At: Twelve Apostles, Great Ocean Road & Booringa Road, Port Campbell, Victoria 3269 Australia
The Twelve Apostles were originally known as the “Sow and Piglets”, the mother pig and her little offspring. The early settlers renamed the rock formation after the disciples of Jesus Christ. You will notice that there are not actually twelve “Apostles”, and we’re not sure if there ever were. These are the world’s tallest limestone stacks and, without a doubt, the most recognizable attraction in Victoria.

Lunch Stop.
Apollo Bay is known as ‘Paradise by the Sea” and was named after a sloop called the Apollo that was forced to shelter in the bay’s calm waters when a nasty storm blew up back in 1845. Much of Apollo Bay’s history revolves around the fishing and timber industries. A small fishing fleet still exists today.
