DESCRIPTION
At Scubabo, we don’t want you to just learn to dive, we want you to love to dive! You’ll love learning our way, because we make every step of your experience fun.
This globally recognised certification program is the best way to begin your lifelong adventures as a certified scuba diver. Personalised training is combined with in-water practice sessions to ensure you have the skills and experience required to become truly comfortable underwater. You will earn the SSI Open Water Diver certification after completing the first part of this program.
Then you may need an extra day to complete the SSI Perfect Buoyancy and Enriched Air Nitrox Specialties, which can be organised around your availability. (We will try to complete both specialties across the 3 days but in the event we cannot facilitate, we will bring you back for one more day)
The SSI Perfect Buoyancy program teaches you the skills and techniques needed to maximize your dive experience, increase your comfort in the water, and get the most from your equipment. You will earn the SSI Perfect Buoyancy Specialty certification.
As a Nitrox diver, you can increase your bottom times and safety margins, plus shorten your surface intervals – so you can spend more time diving and less time waiting! In this program, you will learn new skills and increase your diving knowledge whilst learning how to safely plan and dive with enriched air mixtures of up to 40% oxygen. Upon completion, you will earn an SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 40% certification.
Equipment Requirements:
All scuba diving equipment is supplied, except Mask, Snorkel, Fins & Boots.

package pricing and 10% discount in our retail store!
Prerequisites:
- The minimum age to participate is 12 years old (a parent’s or guardian’s consent is required for participants under 18 years old.)
- All participants must complete a Medical Questionnaire. If any of the questions are flagged as “Yes” you may need to gain medical clearance from a doctor prior to participating. Please ensure you complete this Medical Questionnaire before the start of your course to avoid delays or disappointment
- You must be able to swim 200 metres without stopping. There is no time limit for this and you may use any swimming stroke(s) you want.
- You must be able to float or tread water for 10 minutes, again using any method(s) you want.
Dive Medical:
A dive medical may be required if you fall into one or more of the following categories:
- Those with an at risk medical condition; or are over 45 years of age; or have a body mass
index (BMI) over 30 AND a waist circumference greater than 102cm for males and 88cm for females.
If you fall into one or more of these categories you may need to consult your GP for further clearances. We will send you a confirmation email with a Medical waiver attached – be sure to read through this prior to your course and follow the guidelines for medical reviews by a professional.

- Cost includes BC, regs, tanks, weights and wetsuit
- SSI training materials and fees
- All Boat and Shore Dives required for certification
Course Schedule:
Our course requires a minimum 3 days to complete. If you would prefer to complete this course
over weekends please refer to our Two Weekend Option course. Please note, we may have to conduct the specialty courses over a separate weekend or date to that of the open water course.
Note: This course needs a minimum of 4 students to commence
