Walk Kosciuszko National Park in NSW for the ultimate alpine walking adventure. The Snowy Mountains in NSW is a popular place in winter for skiing enthusiasts, but in spring, summer and autumn it becomes a haven for walkers keen to explore its stunning peaks, beautiful snow gum forests and impressive waterfalls. In early summer the alpine meadows erupt with colourful wildflowers whilst the tarns and lakes sparkle like bright jewels. With Mt Kosciuszko Australia’s highest peak as its centre, this area offers spectacular views and a variety of different landscapes to explore.

On night one we spend the night in Smiggins at the charming Altitude Lodge. Guests will stay in king or twin rooms with ensuites.
in Thredbo village
Our second and third nights are spent in Thredbo village at the charming Denham Hotel. In the style of an older style ski chalet this charming accommodation is perfectly located near the village square. Guests will stay in king or twin rooms with ensuites.
Included on tour
Evening meals are a great time for the group to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Guests will enjoy dining each evening in the lodges accompanied by Australia wines.

DEPARTURE TIME: 7.30am
TRANSFER TIMES: Morning: 3 hours transfer from Canberra to start your walk. Or alternatively, meet the group in Jindabyne at 10am.
TRAIL NOTES: 13kms. 5.5 hours walking with breaks. Medium Grade. Elevation gain: 544m
TERRAIN: This track starts with a steep ascent then a steady descent. The track has a firm base with some rocks. There is a final gentle ascent with some rock scrambling at Porcupine Rocks before a steady descent to the end of the walk.
WALK ITINERARY: Meet your guide at the Novotel Canberra or in Jindabyne for transfers to the start of the walk-in Guthega Alpine Village. Today’s walk traverses through Blue Cow to Perisher Valley. Along the way we explore forests of twisted Snowgums and alpine meadows alive with wildflowers in early summer. We climb Porcupine Rocks for spectacular views of Crackenback. We then walk into our accommodation at the Altitude Lodge Perisher. Tonight enjoy dinner accompanied with Australian wines.
TRAIL NOTES: 16-19km. 4-5 hrs.
TERRAIN: This track starts with a gentle descent then a steady, sustained ascent. The track has a firm base with sections of paving and boardwalk as well as natural trail with some rocks. This is a well formed trail.
WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast at the hotel, we head out for the day’s adventure. From Charlotte Pass our walk takes us to Australia’s highest mountain Mt Kosciuszko. We meander through Alpine fields along the way taking in spectacular views across the mountains and passing pretty glacial lakes. We stop at the historic Seaman’s Hut enjoying the magnificent vistas. We finish the day with a chair-lift ride down the mountain for a bird’s eye view of the landscape. For those wishing to walk further an optional walk is available along the Merritt’s track, which passes through pretty Snowgum forests back down the hill. We walk into our accommodation at Thredbo at the superb Denman Hotel. Enjoy time to relax before enjoying dinner in the Terrace restaurant accompanied with Australian wines.
TRAIL NOTES: 13.4km, 4 hours. Medium grade
TERRAIN: The track has a smooth, formed surface with occasional rocks and obstacles. Undulating terrain with some short steep hills.
WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast at the hotel, we head out for the last day’s walking adventure. This morning we access our walk by taking the chairlift up the mountain. Our walk today through the high alpine regions of Kosciuszko National Park offering spectacular vistas of the rugged peaks of Ramshead Range and Crackenback Mountain. Walk through alpine heath and pretty forests of Snowgums as we make our way to the Thredbo Valley. Along the way we may spot wombat, kangaroos or even a wild brumby which roam the plains. After our walk we make our way back to our accommodation at Thredbo. Tonight enjoy dinner in the Terrace restaurant perfectly matched with Australian wines.
TRAIL NOTES: 11kms. 4.5 hours
TERRAIN: Undulating terrain following a formed track, with some branches and other obstacles.
WALK ITINERARY: Enjoy a hearty breakfast before we set out on the last walk of our tour. Today you head down the mountain to picturesque Sawpit Creek and wander through dry eucalypt forests, to pretty Sawpit Falls and Charlie’s Cascades. Keep your eyes peeled for the interesting wildlife you can spot along the way, including wood ducks, flame robins, crimson rosellas, Australian magpies, and wedge-tailed eagles. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a platypus. Enjoy lunch, sitting by the creek and finish the walk at Guthega Alpine Village, set on the banks of the Snowy River. Afterwards, we transfer our guests with the choice of drop offs in Jindabyne or Canberra.
FINISH TIME: 2pm finish time in Jindabyne or 5.30pm arrival in Canberra.
